THE EVENT IN DETAIL
- The ER7 invites the most prestigious European universities ( HEC, Cambridge, King’s College, ESADE …) to participate at a rugby sevens tournament. 5 different nationalities were present last year.
For this 3rd edition, 16 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams will compete for the victory from the 6th to the 8th of March 2020 at the Roubaix Velodrome, finish line of the legendary cycle race of the Paris-Roubaix. During the weekend, 350 players won’t pay anything. The cost of accomodation transportation, meals and parties are all paid for by the association.
Inspired from the HSBC World Tour tournaments that produce a peculiar and unique atmosphere combined with a spectacular sport (6 tries per match of 2*7 minutes in average), the ER7 gathers a panel of spectators far more diversified than the traditional rugby union. This festive and international atmosphere is one-of-a-kind, and unfamiliar in France. Spectators come to discover the convivial and atypical ambience within the entertainment village as well as this sensational sport.
The last whistle of the day does not indicate the end of the festivities.
On Friday night, a gala dinner is organised at the Roubaix town-hall, one of the most beautiful city-hall in France. It’s the occasion to promote our values and the ones of our partners. On Saturday night, a party is organised in Lille, during which some local artists will perform.
QUAD RUGBY TOURNAMENT
The European Rugby Sevens Cup commits to contribute to developing physical activities and sports for people with disabilities. This year, for the first time, a quad rugby tournament, a Paralympic and impressive sport, will be incorporated in the tournament and will take place on Saturday at noon at the Roubaix Velodrome.
The objective is to increase awareness amongst the participants, to help develop parasport but also to be faithful to rugby values that are solidarity, team-spirit and fighting spirit.
